The Cultural Explosion of Manchester & the North
Widely recognised as the UK’s second city for industry, sport and music, Manchester has recently seen an explosion of interest in arts and culture, leading the New York Times to name Manchester as the UK’s must visit cultural destination in its list of the globe’s best cities.
Buy Art Fair is the largest and most prestigious art fair in the North of England. Since its launch ten years ago it has attracted 50,000 visitors who have spent £3.5 million on contemporary art. With direct transport links to Chester, Liverpool, Leeds and Greater Manchester Buy Art Fair attracts a stylish, affluent and cultured audience buying art for the first time or looking for the next big thing or investment piece.
Due to increased demand we are now accepting applications for a limited release of additional stands at Buy Art Fair 2017. ''It's important that Manchester has an established art market where works are bought and sold, and having a credible fair is fundamental to achieving this''
Director of The Whitworth & Manchester City Galleries
''I was amazed really when I walked in to see so many people here. It really is a big show. It is very, very important that people in Manchester are able to come and see art that is affordable and that they can buy.''
One of the World's Top 200 Collectors
What Our Visitors Say
"This was the first time I'd been to an Art Fair and I must say I loved it. It was great to talk to the artists and see the work up close. It was also very approachable for someone with no experience of the art world."
" I thought this year was better than ever - a perfectly balanced and well-curated combination of galleries and independent artists, with public organisations included too. A really great eclectic mix of the art scene in the UK."
"A great eclectic mix of art. Was very impressed by the standard and would definitely visit again."
What Our Exhibitors Say
"A fantastic opportunity for us to meet collectors, both experienced and new, from outside London". Katherine Oliver, Royal Academy of Arts
'''I'm absolutely loving it, everyone has been so friendly and welcoming and it's a chance for us to take artists that are particularly in the south and bring them to the North.'' Rebecca Mayers, The Drang Gallery
'We’ve had two previous very good years and this one has proven to be very successful as well, so we are very pleased. There’s a vibrant art scene here and we think that the way the fair is organised is first rate and we are absolutely delighted with the way it is promoted.'
