Laura Richardson |
 |
| Biography |
 |
Laura graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003 with IIi Hons in Textile Design and accepted a work placement with New Zealand textile design company Maurice Kain in January 2004. Returning to Manchester with an increased appetite for travel, she set up in business at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, creating original and commissioned paintings. Here she further developed her unique etching technique combining oils and bronze in shades of copper and gold - a medium ideal for capturing the complex textures of the weathered landscapes explored in New Zealand and more recently in America within her ‘Artist’s Palette, Death Valley’ series.

TAMING OF COLOURS
Making Art Spontaneously
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Leyla moved to London at the age of 18 where she studied, worked for fifteen years. Yorkshire is her second UK home where she spent the last 20 years working, painting and bringing up her family.
Her art reflects her lively and inquisitive nature; her ability to juxtapose colours like events in her life and different places she lived and grew up in.
“Yorkshire, for me represents a wonderful backdrop (not unlike a blank canvas) where I can find the inspiration and the freedom to express myself. My best inspiration comes from walks in beautiful Yorkshire countryside.”
• In her work Leyla negotiates relationships between her inner self and the landscape of her experiences . Her colourful compositions can attract a contemplation on a deeper level or serve as visual treats to uplift the mood.
• “I enjoy the creative process of the subconscious taming of colours into unifying compositions “
• Leyla has exhibited in a number of galleries in UK, Europe and USA including The Mall Galleries, London and a Chelsea Gallery, New York.
• Her work is in private collections in UK, Spain, France, Germany, Slovenia, Italy ,Spain and US
• Her strong presence on the net has brought in customers and admirers from all over the world.
