Burma has been isolated from the world for over 30 years and as such, much of its contemporary art reflects traditional life and values. Burma also has a rich and diverse culture with other 130 different ethnic groups. This delightful piece represents one such ethnic group, the Shan in their traditional wear. This piece demonstrates the serenity of the bond between mother and child. Additionally, note how the piece is of almost photographic quality, yet hand sketched. |
