Free Print Workshop Demonstrations at Buy Art Fair with Hot Bed Press

06 October 2017

Visit the active print workshop with Hot Bed Press at Buy Art Fair, stand number 330. This year they will be showing relief print, screenprint and letterpress. You can also see the adjoining exhibition of wonderful prints selected from some of their 270 members and ask the team questions on how the prints were done, as well as seeing printmaking in action.

Friday 27th October     7.00pm

Meet the artists as they create relief prints. Sitting alongside the Hot Bed Press stand there will be artists in action creating new work in the working print studio and answering questions on how all the prints are created. There will be an opportunity to have a go yourself too.

Saturday 28th October            1.00pm

Screenprinting on Textiles

Come and see images and text printed in two colours directly onto fabric. The joy of this is that with pre-exposed screens or simple stencils you will see how it is practical to screenprint at home. Pick up tips and get inspired to set up your own creative industry.

Saturday 28th October            3.00pm

Screenprinted Posters

See first-hand the creation of art posters that mix photo-screen with advanced stenciling using special Frisk film. The results are a merging of photographic imagery with intricate and delicate designs with an artisan hand-cut feel.

Sunday 29th October               1.00pm

Martin Kochany, Hot Bed Press Technician will show how lead type is set and locked up, then printed on an Adana press, going into mass production; each printed card showing the individual character and style of letterpress.  In recent years letterpress has had a major resurgence alongside the lure of the hand-made.

Sunday 29th October               3.00pm

Large Wooden Type

See large wooden type set and printed on a galley press. Artist/designers such as Alan Kitching have been recognised as pioneers, bringing art & design together playing with text and composition, experimenting with letters and forms and creating visually stunning results.
